Thoughts Lead To Appreciation

56TH INDEPENDENCE – Why We Are Nigerians

Why are we Nigerians?

To lament about problems;

Problems often nonexistent;

Problems viewed coloured.

Why are we Nigerians?

To blame Sulaiman;

But only if we are Solomon;

A popular notion it is.

Why are we Nigerians?

To question our Nationhood;

Because Sani disdains Sopuru;

Citizens must rebuff patriotism.

Yet Sarah need not like Sahrah;

Only be self;

Respect self, acknowledge others;

The world requires such.

We can move together;

Onwards depends our focus;

Our problem is not our Nation;

Rather self-confidence lacking.

One who improves self much;

Will others ignore;

Without discrimination, vilification;

For self-love wastes not on dissimilars.

On this 2016 October 1st, our National Day Of Independence, may the greatness of the Federal Republic Of Nigeria inspire us to individual excellence.

This weekend coincides with the end of the year 1437. As the First Day of Muha56th-independence-why-we-are-nigeriansrram, 1438 Hijri approaches, it is a New Year for fresh attempts at national rebirth. May our personal achievements lead us to give back to our Nation Nigeria.

The one and only,

Umm Sulaim
