Thoughts Lead To Appreciation
Nigeria’s military chiefs at Defence Headquarters really have some serious questions to answer.
First, the town of Baga in Borno State which was invaded by Boko Haram a few weeks ago was earlier this afternoon retaken by government forces.
Incidentally, today Saturday 21, February 2014 is exactly one week since the postponed February 14 presidential election and two weeks since the postponement was announced by the INEC chairman Professor Attahiru Muhammadu Jega.
As the major reason for the rescheduling of elections was security in the North-East of Nigeria, it is with vindication that I celebrate the Nigerian Armed Forces.
There certainly is much renewed passion in counter-terrorism operations of our army and air force.
Is that a result of the availability of fresh military logistics and weaponry.
I once stated that weapons do not operate by themselves.
Why have military chiefs over recent months and through their disastrous repel strategies given Nigerians the impression that our soldiers and officers on the ground cannot successfully take the fight to Boko Haram?
It is refreshing to observe Nigerians rallying in support of our military.
The gallantry of our military until recently must rank among the best kept official secrets.
One could rightly say our men kept the best for last.
Thank you for holding the name of our nation high.
Pride describes not adequately my regard for our military.
