Umm Sulaim's Thoughts

Thoughts Lead To Appreciation

While I was in SSS detention last week, I clearly distinguished one official for warmth because that person is different in behaviour.

That caused jealousy among others who solicited the same treatment from me. Of course, they did not get it.

That official received an apology from me.

I was furious with others for their mistreatment of me and I mistakenly marked this individual as one of them.

Although I was apprehensive over abuse of my trust, I concluded it was appropriate to treat this individual as sincere until evidence of the contrary manifested.

In the midst of persons one loathes, identify even one who is positively different and shut the door on the others.

What is playing out is the misuse of law enforcement agents to intimidate me.

So far, I have been through the police and SSS.

Perhaps the creature behind turning security operatives into hoodlums will bring the army, navy, air force or even civil defence next time.

This period of heightened security crisis perpetrated by individuals who share a peculiar demented mentality is an apt disguise for lodging complaints against me with security institutions.

Ironically, the complainant possesses that demented mentality and behaviour.

As I expressed during a casual interaction with a well-meaning SSS:

Security threat is posed by mentality and behaviour and not by the Niqab.

Just for clarification, not one of the officials of Department Of State Security ~DSS who mishandled me was a Christian.

They were all Muslims.

My evaluation of the operations of State Security Service, Sokoto is aside from feeding arrangements for detainees, the actual fabric for security assessment is blatantly absent.

Provided every aspect of a complaint is no more than gossip and disdain for individual differences, there exists no validity to treat the accused as an imminent criminal.

In such a situation, security investigations ought to be conducted without infringing on the liberty of the accused.

It is futile to expect the detained accused to understand that one is treated well because one is well fed.

That is outrageous!

Loss of liberty is a gross human rights injustice that cannot be remedied through a five-star feeding programme.

Shortly before I regained my freedom, I was required to write that my statements were offered willingly.

I will not write that!

I was compelled to provide the information.

Oh! I will even write it.

I proceeded to attest that much of the statements – except for one given on the first day, i.e. Wednesday December 10, 2014 – were provided under duress and against my will.

There is controversy for you!

Finally, what is my religion?

As of the last 24 hours I spent in SSS custody, it was atheism.

At present, my religion is mind-your-own-business-ism!!!!

Tomorrow, my religion may well be something else.

No security agency should attempt to correlate all of my religions, as even I cannot understand them!!!!
